Hebou PNG Barramundis UAE Tour Announced

Cricket PNG (CPNG) announced today that Hebou PNG Barramundis will play an extra two (2) One Day Internationals (ODIs) on their United Arab Emirates (UAE) tour in November/December this year.

The Hebou PNG Barramundis will be travelling to UAE in November/December this year to play in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Intercontinental Cup (ICUP)/World Cricket League Championships (WCLC) Round 7 Fixture against Hong Kong and an extra two (2) ODIs against Scotland.

The two (2) ODIs will take place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of November at the Dubai International Stadium. The Hebou PNG Barramundis have played a total of ten (10) ODIs against Hong Kong, UAE and Scotland since 2014, winning half of these matches. These two (2) sides met earlier this month in the Round 6 ICC WCLC fixtures in Port Moresby, with both sides recording a single victory each.

The ICUP Fixture between the Hebou PNG Barramundis and Hong Kong will take place from Wednesday 29th November to Saturday 2nd December, 2017 in Sharjah. Heading into the match, the Hebou PNG Barramundis are sitting in sixth place on 43 points, managing victories over Netherlands in Round 1 and Namibia in Round 4, while Hong Kong are in seventh (7th) place on 39 points. The two (2) WCLC Fixtures between the Hebou PNG Barramundis and Hong Kong will take place on Wednesday 6th and Friday 8th December at the ICC Academy Ground. These two (2) WCLC fixtures are crucial as the battle for the ICC WCLC and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 intensifies, with the top (4) WCLC Teams advancing to the Global World Cup Qualifier next year. The Hebou PNG Barramundis are sitting in second position on 16 points, having already qualified for the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe while Hong Kong are sitting in fourth position on 14 points. Netherlands are sitting on top on 18 points with their final round matches to take place against Namibia who are currently in seventh position. There is extra incentive as the winner of the WCLC will be the 13th team in the new ODI League which will commence in 2020 along with all the full-member countries.
