EAP fall short in Men’s T20 competition at Australian Country Cricket Championships

The International Cricket Council (ICC) East Asia Pacific (EAP) Men’s Team failed to make the Grand Final of the 2018 Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships (ACCC) Men’s T20 Division in Geraldon, Western Australia.

 

New South Wales Country defeated Queensland Country by 39 runs in the Grand Final of the Men’s T20 Division at the ACCC in Geraldon yesterday after the EAP Men’s Team failed to qualify after winning three (3) out of their five (5) round robin T20 Matches over the weekend.

 

The EAP Men’s Team which consisted of six (6) PNG players and eight (8) Vanuatu players, managed to defeat Queensland Country (by 4 wickets), Western Australia Country (by 5 wickets) and Victoria Country (by 5 wickets) but lost to South Australia Country (by 26 runs) and New South Wales (by 35 runs).

 

The EAP Men’s Team will now turn their attention to the 50 Over Division which start tomorrow, 9th January, 2018. The EAP Men’s Team will take on New South Wales Country at the REC Ground in Geraldon.

 

The ACCC is an annual tournament which showcases the best cricket talent from regional areas around Australia, with teams from all around Australia and from the East Asia Pacific region. The tournament was first held in Beenleigh in Queensland in 1984/85 and since then has been held in each state on a rotational basis, with the 2018 championships held in Geraldon, Western Australia.
